For the past four days, my life has looked like this.
But I took tomorrow off of work to run 12 miles so, rain or shine (rain), I will be on the streets in the morning sweating my butt off. And I will be dreaming of sunnier days, like last Sunday, when I spent an amazing afternoon and evening living the life in DC with Ingrid and Leigh, her best friend from college.
We started by riding our bikes from Ingrid's apartment to Jack's boathouse. I was the only one responsible enough to wear a helmet.
We rented kayak's and spent an hour kayaking on the Potomac River. It was the perfect amount of breezy and sunny. We alternated between drifting in our boats and using all our arm muscles to race each other upstream. Our boats were orange and blue. It was all awesome.
Afterward, we sat for a while at Dean and Deluca eating sushi and drinking iced tea.
Then we tried maybe the best cupcakes in DC, from Baked and Wired. Their carrot cake was like crack and was a toss up with those from Something Sweet. Sometimes I hate myself for giving in to this whole cupcake craze but ya know what? They're just too good not to.
A few hours later, we ate some foods at Hank's Oyster Bar, played fancy at Bar Dupont, met friends at Big Hunt, and then attempted shuffleboarding at Buffalo Billiards. It was all wonderful and I'm glad that Ingrid and Leigh let me crash their reunion weekend.
I'm not the only one who got the crash their party though. Lucy spent more time with the two than even I did, becoming a little too intimate with Leigh's sore butt as they played tourist three days in a row.
I can only hope that the upcoming weekend is as beautiful as the last. My man turns a year older on Sunday and we're going to spend the weekend outdoors, in the woods to celebrate. So RAIN RAIN, GO AWAY!
